Boys 8th Grade Football vs. Camdenton Middle School

Tigers Lose: 12 - 14
The 8th grade WMDS football team hosted the Camdenton Lakers and lost 14-12. Offensively, the Tigers had to count on the aerial attack in which Bishop Godwin connected with Rayshawn Fowler and Michael Derr for TDs. Defensively, the Tigers were able to force a turnover and cause problems for Camdenton Lakers’ offense all night. The Lakers scored twice, one where they received a short field from a Tiger turnover and another on a long receiving TD. Each week these Tigers continue to get better and learn Coach Haynes’ playbook in order to be better prepared next year in High School. The Tigers finish up their last game of the season where they will host the Rolla Bulldogs on 10/24/19. Currently the Tigers have a record 2-2-1.

Tigers Lose: 12 - 14
The 8th grade WMDS football team hosted the Camdenton Lakers and lost 14-12. Tigers Lose: 20 - 28
The 8th Grade Football team hosted Lewis and Clark on September 26, 2019 and were defeated by a score of 28-20. Bishop Godwin scored a rushing TD on the first offensive series which took up 6 minutes of the first quarter. The Tigers were unable to convert the 2 point conversion, which made the score 6-0. Lewis and Clark scored early in the second quarter and successfully converted their two point conversion which put them up 8-6. The Tigers went into half down 14-20. In the 2nd half, Tau Asi returned a Kickoff for a TD, which tied the game at 20. Lewis and Clark was able to put together a strong drive and go up 28-20. The Tigers have shown great poise and fight during the last three games. Even when trailing by a touchdown, they continue to compete every down. They continue to mature and learn from their mistakes each week and will use this to their advantage to finish the season strong. The Tigers have a bye week next week and will be on the road at Lebanon 10/10/19 starting at 5:30pm.

Boys 8th Grade Football vs. Lange MS

Tigers Win: 22 - 20
The Waynesville 8th Grade Football team hosted Lange Middle school on September 20, 2019 and sent them home with a loss by a score of 22-20. Tau Asi took the opening kickoff back for a touchdown and was unable to convert the 2 point conversion. Lange went 3 and out on their opening possession anchored by the Tiger’s stout defensive line. The following offensive series led by the Tigers, Lange forced a fumble and took it in for a touchdown and converted the two point conversion which made the score Lange 8 and Waynesville 6. In the 2nd quarter Lange scored on a long rushing TD to go up 14-6. In the closing seconds of the second quarter, Bishop Godwin found Jonathan Hedrick in the back of the end zone for a touchdown. Bishop Godwin was able to convert the 2 point conversion and sent the Tigers into halftime all tied up. In the second half, the Tigers were able to score in the 3rd quarter by a rushing touchdown from Tau Asi. Bishop Godwin converted the 2 point conversion to put the Tigers up 22-14. Lange scored another touchdown in the 3rd quarter but failed on their two point conversion which made the score 22-20. In the closing seconds of the 4th quarter, Tyrique Brooks intercepted the ball in the endzone to secure the Victory for the Waynesville Tigers. For the second week in a row the offensive line for the Tigers played an exceptional game. Defensively, Rashaun Fowler had an interception and Mason Perez had multiple sacks. Outside Linebacker Ilija Alavanja came up big on multiple plays. This was a great team win, where the Tigers were resilient and handled adversity quite well. The Tigers are back at home on 9/26/2019 where the will host Lewis and Clark Middle School.

Boys 8th Grade Football vs. Bolivar High School

Tigers Win: 28 - 6
The Waynesville 8th Grade football team hosted the Bolivar Liberators on September 12, 2019 and sent them home with a loss by a score of 28-6. The offensive line for the Tigers, which included; Makhi Johnson, Andres Suarez, Mason Perez, Demetrius Shells, Weslee Dye, and TE Michael Derr set the tone early, which allowed our offense to sustain drives and score four touchdowns. Bishop Godwin had two passing touchdowns with one going to Rayshawn Fowler and the other to Michel Derr. In the backfield, fullback Franklin Myers helped pave the way for Asi Tau who scored a rushing touchdown along with Kaiden Cruz who had a rushing TD as well. Defensively, the Tigers had 3 interceptions and one fumble recovery The Tiger’s Defense allowed one TD in the first quarter and shut them out for the next three quarters. Tyrique Brooks, Will Plato, and Elijah Griffin were credited with the interceptions. This was a great home opener win, which displayed impeccable sportsmanship and it was a great night to be a Tiger.
