Visiting Jefferson City's sagging zone defense and balanced scoring were enough to boost the short-handed Lady Jays to a 55-45 win over Waynesville Monday night. JCHS played without three varsity regulars, but time and again made it difficult for the Lady Tigers to score inside. Jeff City jumped out in front early and held a 26-16 lead at halftime. With six girls scoring in the third quarter, Waynesville closed the gap to 37-34 as Ashton Pilz flipped in a rebound at the buzzer. A Kallie Bildner three-point play tied the game for the first time seconds into the fourth quarter. But the visitors ran off three straight baskets and Waynesville could never catch up again. Bildner led all scorers with 17 points, but Jefferson City placed three players in double figures.
