Soccer Girls Win on Opening Weekend

The Lady Tiger soccer team won for the first time this season by beating Camdenton 3-2 in the Saturday morning game of the Tiger Classic. The Lakers scored the first and last goals of the game, but Waynesville put up three in a row in between for the victory. Taylor Winking and Haley Reckard scored in the first half for a 2-1 lead. Reckard's goal came on a nice direct kick inside the left post. The winner came with 17:45 remaining when Katelyn Sieber found the back of the net. Sieber was playing up from the JV roster when she nailed the eventual game-winner.
In their other tournament games, the Tigers lost to Bishop DuBourg 4-1 and Columiba-Hickman 3-0. Emily Anderson scored against DuBourg off an assist from Reckard. In the Hickman game, goalkeeper D'Anna Hasik grabbed 13 saves on a busy afternoon.
