"The Waynesville Cross Country team kicked off their season battling the hills and mud this weekend at Cole County Fairgrounds in Jefferson City. This race was a starting point to see where a lot of our kids are at this point in the season. We have several returning athletes looking to end their season back in Jefferson City at the state meet this year and a large group of freshman who are learning from the leadership of the upperclassman.  While at the meet one of the other coaches commented on the great sportsmanship and team spirit the Waynesville team showed. I know we have great kids but to have other schools notice is a pretty neat thing."

 

Both the Varsity Boys and Varsity Girls teams placed 4th in the Large School Division. The boys only missed 3rd place by one point.

 

Both Varsity and JV races medaled to 20 runners. Our medalists were:

 

Varsity Boys

Nick Victor -3rd place 17:29 (5k)

Najim Udchachon -7th place 18:13 (5k)

 

Varsity Girls

Kellsie Herrmann -17th 22:03 (5k)

 

JV Boys

Michael Burkhart -15th 12:50 (2mi)

Autumn Holt -15th (2 mi)
