The Lady Tiger soccer team came out shooting at high noon Saturday, put thier third shot of the game in the back of the net and rolled on to beat Harrison High School of Rogers, Arkansas 4-1 at the Camdenton Invitational.  The win lifted WHS to a second place finish in the eight-team Purple Pool, just behind Kansas City Pembroke Hill and ahead of the host Lady Lakers.  WHS opened the tournament Friday afternoon with a thrilling 1-0 win over Hillsboro and battled K.C. Barstow to a scoreless draw Saturday morning before whipping the War Eagles from northwest Arkansas.

After saves on their first two shots,  Valerie Esparza picked up a pass from Krystina Zabek and buried it for a 1-0 lead against Harrison.  Harrison tied it later, but Zabek scored the eventual game-winner herself in the 38th minute.  Second half unassisted goals by Emily Anderson and Taylor Winking made it rock solid.  The Tiger defense limited Harrsion to just three shots on goal for the game.

Friday's game saw WHS outshoot the Lady Hawks 14-4, but the game remained scoreless until Lexie Timmons slotted a through ball to Emily Anderson for a breakaway goal with 18:16 remaining.  Goalkeeper D'Anna Hasik then came up big on two occasions to seal the win.  With 7:25 remaining, a Hillsboro forward beat her defender and placed a nice shot toward the far post.  Hasik made a diving save to her left.  Later, with just forty seconds remaining, Hasik raced out to smother the ball on a breakaway before the Lady Hawk could take her shot.

In the Saturday morning game, Hasik again came up big by making nine saves.  Four of those came in the first eleven minutes.  Once the Tiger defense gathered itself together,  the Lady Knights managed only five more shots on goal the rest of the game.  Alexis Willingham managed a pair of second half shots, but the Barstow keeper grabbed them both and the game ended scoreless.
